Goldson will never get over cup final agony

THE hurt will never leave Connor Goldson and now he is determined Celtic will feel the heat of Ibrox heartache.

The Rangers central defender looked across the sodden turf of Hampden earlier this month and couldn’t hide his anguish.

They had hammered at the door of the Hoops defence only to be turned away time and again by Fraser Forster as Celtic prevailed in the Betfred Cup Final.

To make matters worse the winning goal came from a position Goldson suspected at the time was offside, only for it to be confirmed by TV evidence.

The former Brighton star has spoken of his respect for rival Odsonne Edouard as he bids to put the shackles on the French striker at Parkhead tomorrow.

But he believes Rangers can come good and claim title race advantage. Goldson said: “It was horrible to lose that last match, probably my worst day in football. Sometimes you’d rather walk out of there having lost three or four nil and been battered and outplayed than lose the way we did.

“It was heartbreak­ing after being in control of the whole game. I went home and sat and thought what more could we have given as a team and there weren’t really any answers.

“It was crushing but that’s my personalit­y. I had built myself up for three days thinking there was no way we were going to lose.
