Starting slot no slam Dunc for Dunfermline new boy Dylan

QOS v DUNFERMLINE

-

DEADLINE-DAY signing Dylan Duncan doesn’t fear a scrap for starts at Dunfermline – he’s relishing it.

That’s the verdict of Pars boss Stevie Crawford, who brought the 21-year-old in on loan from QPR until the end of the season.

The midfielder has been on the Fifers’ radar since before the season started and will now fight it out for a jersey in their promotion push.

Duncan arrived at Loftus Road last summer after exiting Spurs and has been playing for their Under-23s this season.

Boss Crawford said: “It is important when you bring loan players in that you are not putting yourself in a position where they are guaranteed games because there has been a promise made.

“They have to earn it. When I spoke to Dylan I said that there are a number of midfield players at the club. It is going to be a big challenge for him to try to oust a few and get in there.

“That was a big part of the attraction that he is backing his belief that he has what it takes to play for Dunfermline.

“There is an opportunity there should he perform at a consistent level. Time will tell.”

The Pars take on Queen of the South today with Palmerston ace Michael Paton going up against one of his old clubs.

Queens crashed 3-2 to Alloa last weekend and the midfielder is out to make amends.

Paton said: “We lost bad goals and if you look over our season that is not something we have done often.

“We need to get points on board and climb the table. It is always good to play against Dunfermline and test myself against my big pal Lee Ashcroft.”
