Dec’s ban could lead to goals for Gregor now

- BY ALAN ROBERTSON

GREGOR BUCHANAN is sure Falkirk’s squad can cope with Declan McManus’ suspension – in fact he may even get a goal out of it.

The Bairns will be without the 21-goal striker for their visit to Clyde after his sending-off against Montrose last weekend.

McManus’ form has helped David McCracken and Lee Miller go 11 league games unbeaten since taking charge in November.

Centre-back Buchanan said: “It’s a wee bit of a difficult one because he has scored a lot of goals.

“But we’ve a good squad so we’re hopeful and fully behind anybody who goes into his position.

“I’ve still not scored this season, which is bothering me. It has been one of these seasons – they’ve been off the line and even Declan has scored a few off my headers that have been going in. So I might get my goal on Saturday then!

“We’re doing well for clean sheets so as long as that keeps going I’m pretty happy.”

Clyde have not scored in their last four games and are only a point clear of the relegation play-off place.

But Bully Wee defender Tom Lang, back on loan from Dunfermline, said: “We have a lot of leaders in the dressing room and I feel I can add to the leadership qualities we already have.

“Now is the time for everyone to show the players we are because the table doesn’t show the true quality of the squad at all.

“The last few weeks have really gone against us. We just have to make sure concentration is high.”

Stranraer’s home clash with Peterhead has been postponed due to bad weather and will now be played Tuesday, March 17.
