New deals give boost to Rose

return from the winter break? No. But he’s hardly alone at Ibrox as the entire team has contributed to blowing the chance of stopping Celtic take their ninth title in

a row. is low and nothing much is coming off for him. What I don’t see is a dud. He’s a player who can get fans off their seats and there’s not many of them kicking about. Off the pitch he’s a young man – 23 years old – living away from home and away from his family. He may well be mentally strong enough to cope with the kicking he’s been getting over the past few days. But, regardless, that doesn’t mean it’s OK to be dishing it out to him. Or anybody else for that matter. And if he’s not dealing with it well? This isn’t about the colour of the jersey he wears. It’s not even necessarily about Kent. He’s merely an example. It’s about the wellbeing of any individual being constantly told he or she is c**p at his job. It might make the keyboard warrior feel good for a couple of minutes before he or she moves onto the next target. But the damage it can cause to the person on the receiving end can last a lot longer.

BONNYRIGG ROSE boss Robbie Horne has received a major boost before the clash of the season at Kelty Hearts.

The New Dundas Park side are three points behind Barry Ferguson’s Maroon Machine ahead of the league thriller.

Horne has fixed up two-year contract extensions for nine of his squad – Alan Horne, Dean Brett, Johnny Brown, Johnny Stewart, Keiran McGachie, Kerr Young, Lee Currie, Lewis Turner and Mark Weir – while Ewan Moyes has agreeed a one-year deal.

George Hunter is already under contract next season and Horne said: “The 10 players have collectively spent 49 seasons with the club and close to 1600 appearances and it’s a massive boost to the club as we come towards the business end of the season.”

Ferguson also got a boost with his side winning their last match 5-0 against Whitehill Welfare to reach the Football Nation Cup semi-finals.

He said: “We’re taking one game at a time. We looked a threat every time we went forward against Whitehill. It was good to get to the semi-final because we want to try to win every competition.”
