Paedophile is snared by cop undercover as a 14-year-old
BY TARA FITZPATRICK A DISABLED man sent sexually explicit photographs to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl – but was actually a police investigator.
Aleem Azam sent sick messages including: “I cannot wait to have sex with you and make you a woman.”
The 49-year-old appeared yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court, where he admitted two charges of having sexual communication with a child he believed to be 14.
The child, referred to as “Hanhan F”, was in fact an undercover police officer.
Azam also admitted possessing indecent photographs of children at his home in Glasgow.
The court heard how the online chats with Hanhan F took place from September 18 to 20, 2017, at Azam’s home address “directly across from Shawlands Academy”.
Police “received intelligence that a male by the name of Aleem Azam had been communicating on
E-Chat and Skype with a female he believed to be 14”.
The court heard he sent images of his face and genitalia and a video of himself performing a sex act. He told the child his age and she indicated she was 14.
After sending a video of himself performing a sex act, he asked if the child liked it and indicated where he lived and gave her his phone number.
As a result, police searched his home. A total of 18 indecent images of children were recovered – nine of which were Category A, the most serious kind.
Sheriff Andrew Cubie deferred sentencing until May 15 for reports.
