Rare Morgans ready to roll..
ANY 70th birthday deserves recognition but Morgan is going the extra mile to celebrate the Plus 4’s special anniversary.
The British hand-crafted sports car maker is building just 20 70th Anniversary Edition models – with a host of interior, exterior and engine upgrades.
And even though they’re priced at £60,995, all of the rare beauties have already been allocated to enthusiastic customers.
Each features an individually numbered plaque, a Platinum Metallic paintjob, satin dark grey wire wheels, a motorsport-inspired front valance, exterior black detailing and a special sports exhaust.
The interior is bedecked in top-quality leather, while other highlights include a Ravenwood veneer dashboard, satin black Mota-Lita steering wheel, mohair hood cover, heated performance seats and specially embroidered head rests.
Morgan’s Aero Racing motorsport specialist has remapped the 2.0-litre petrol engine to boost power from 154 to 180bhp, resulting in a 0-62mph sprint time of less than seven seconds.
These Plus 4 models will also be the last to be built on Morgan’s traditional steel frame chassis, each of which will be painted gold to highlight its significance, as the company is switching to a new aluminium platform.
Production of the first four cars was completed ahead of the temporary closure of the firm’s Malvern factory because of the coronavirus crisis.
Morgan design chief Jonathan Wells said: “A mix of premium tones, high-quality materials and exquisite details reflect the essence of the venerable Morgan Plus 4, and provide a fitting tribute to the steel chassis that has formed its backbone since it was launched in 1950.”
