New channel is stream dream
Free service Roku could be answer for your lockdown viewing
IF YOU are stuck for shows or movies to watch during lockdown, a brilliant rival to Netflix could be the answer to your needs.
Sky Q and Prime Video might be what you are looking for – and the best part is it’s free.
Streaming king Roku has launched The Roku Channel in the UK, with the service available to anyone who owns a Roku streaming dongle, NOW TV box or Sky Q.
You’ll be able to start streaming Hollywood blockbusters and television series without paying a penny.
Better still, Roku won’t even force you to sign up with an account to get access to the hours of entertainment available on its
channel. amazon Roku is using advertising to fund the venture and make sure there’s a constant rotating library of entertaining content for viewers to binge.
Rob Holmes, vice-president of programming at Roku, said: “We are making it easy for consumers to find great free entertainment and provide additional value to Roku users, NOW TV device holders and Sky Q customers.
“Ad-supported viewing is one of the fastest-growing categories on our platform and we are excited to meet the consumer demand for free TV.”
At launch, The Roku Channel includes more than 10,000 free movies, documentaries and television episodes.
You can watch such diverse shows as Homes Under The Hammer, The Commander, Ultimate Force, Fifth Gear and Britain’s Best Bakery, as well as Get Carter, The Wicker Man and Les Miserables.
