No High ground to be gained denying Brora
HIGHLAND LEAGUE chiefs believe the creditability of the Scottish game will suffer if Brora Rangers are robbed of their route to League Two.
In a statement signed off by secretary Rod Houston, “significant disappointment” was expressed towards the SPFL’s proposals to call all divisions below the Premiership due to the coronavirus crisis.
That would include scrapping the end-ofseason play-off which, ordinarily, sees the winner of a tie between the Highland and Lowland League champions progress to face the bottom club in League Two for a place in the SPFL.
The Highland League, who declared Brora champions last month, believe they have been snubbed in Wednesday’s proposals and hope some form of reconstruction could leave a route to league football available.
Their statement read: “There is significant disappointment the SPFL proposals include cancellation of the play-offs.
“The proposal to deny Brora that opportunity is disappointing and there will be similar feelings among our members.”
