BRUNO FERNANDES insists he is aiming to become the next superstar at Manchester United.

The Portugal international made a stunning start to life at Old Trafford before the season was suspended.

Fernandes settled into the United side with ease following his £67million move from Sporting Lisbon.

A string of sensational performances suggest the 25-year-old will go on to have a long and successful career with the Reds.

The midfielder admits it felt like a dream come true when he discovered United wanted to sign him.

And he revealed he studied the history of the club to appreciate how many footballing greats had graced Old Trafford, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona and Roy Keane.

Now he is on a mission to follow in their footsteps.

Fernandes said: “Ever since I was a kid, it was a dream to play for Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world. You look at the past and you look at the players who played for them.

“I looked at United with more interest when Cristiano was here but then you also see guys like Paul Scholes, Rooney, Giggs, Roy Keane, Van Nistelrooy and Cantona before. So for me, making this step up to United was perfect.”
