Gers chief thanks fans for support

-

FROM BACK PAGE ticket sales are only down by “a few hundred” on the same stage last season.

Rangers pulled in more than £16million in the last financial year from record season-ticket sales of more than 46,000 and are set to near that figure again as Robertson outlined plans for a virtual Sky package.

He said: “We are very conscious of the fantastic backing we’ve had in terms of season tickets.

“That has allowed us to do things like the Ianis Hagi deal and will allow us to do other deals going forward as well.

“We appreciate the supporters and hospitality clients didn’t get those final games of the season.

“The situation recently won’t have been easy for a lot of people. If those supporters want refunds then that’s there and we will facilitate that for them.”

The new season is set to start in August and in an interview ith Rangers TV, Robertson hinted a small number of fans could see games inside the stadium.

League games will be on Sky Sports after a deal with the SPFL to allow clubs to stream games on their own TV channels.

Robertson added: “We will ensure every seasonticket holder has access to Rangers home matches.

“That’s regardless of whether you are a Sky Sports subscriber you’ll get RangersTV.

“We’re working on the basis the season will be starting at the beginning of August. That will probably be behind closed doors initially but maybe with small crowds. There’s a lot of work going on with that.”

Meanwhile, Rangers are set to be handed details of their Europa League return by June 17. They are likely to be told the second leg of their last-16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen will go ahead in August.

UEFA are in talks to decide if summer signings can play in the tournament held over from last season.
