TransferRoom conference as they search for new faces
worthwhile. Asked if it was about getting the ball rolling on transfer he said: “It’s certainly something we are keen to explore.
“We are trying to look into new routes where we can get access to players that might be out there who could transform our club.
“You see clubs like Juventus involved and I’m not sure Ronaldo would fancy a move to Dingwall but it gives us a chance to make contacts and maybe open doors.
“We are always looking to evolve the recruitment side of our club and logistically it can be a challenge for us. We’ve always not had the benefit of a full-time head of recruitment.
“To try to improve it’s important we are getting new lines of communication across the country and abroad. It broadens our horizons.
“It’s been described as the football manager’s version of Tinder but I’m not on social media so I wouldn’t know about that!”
The conference is the annual bringing together of clubs who use the TransferRoom online scouting tool. Hibs sporting director Graeme Mathie is also an exponent but Record Sport understands the club won’t be represented today.
Former Rangers defender and assistant boss David Weir is set to take part in his role as Brighton’s loans manager though.
Speaking to Record Sport last year Weir said: “I use TransferRoom most days to look at what clubs around Europe and beyond are looking for positionally then trying to match up our players and get in contact with those clubs to see if it might be something interesting for both parties.
“It’s about building relationships with clubs. It’s also about meeting people who might be interested in our players and find markets and clubs who might potentially be interested in taking our players.
“It just a way to create a pathway that might bear fruit for the players and the clubs – it’s a win-win for everyone.”
