HAIR TODAY ..GONE TOMORROW?

“But it has to be right for the club. We made money off Liam but we wouldn’t stand in Lyndon’s way if the right offer came in.

“I’m not going to dig my heels in and stop him because we want to keep him. If the right offer comes in and it’s beneficial to everybody then it will be as simple as that.

“I’d be loath to halt a boy’s career by digging my heels in for a couple more pounds. If the deal is right and acceptable to the club, first and foremost, then everyone at this club is able to move on when the time is right. I think that’s the way it should be, you should want that.

“It can’t be, ‘I want everything on my side of the table’. I’ve got to be fair and honest with the players and they know that.”

Dykes set tongues wagging when he revealed a new dyed blue haircut last week but Holt insists dodgy barnets are par for the course with the 24-year-old and he won’t read too much into it.

The Livi boss said: “I had blue hair myself once. He’s had other colours this lockdown as well, he’s come in today with another colour on.

“Today it’s an aqua. It’s meant to be turquoise but my turquoise is different from his.”

Dykes is wanted in dark blue as well as light blue with Steve Clarke trying to persuade the former Queen of the South striker to switch his international allegiance from Australia to Scotland.

Holt is clear on what he’d like Dykes to do but he won’t pressure him.

He added: “We had a chat with Lyndon. Obviously he knows where my allegiance is and I’ve given him the best advice I could.

“Ultimately it’s his decision and he’ll get full backing from us no matter what. He’s improving every day and he would be a good addition to Stevie’s squad.

“Hopefully the penny will fall our way when he makes his decision.

“He would bring a freshness and an energy. People have questioned whether you need more than that but there is nothing wrong with just having that enthusiasm to go out, roll your sleeves up and play, whoever you’re playing.”
