MEAT CLEAVER HORROR

Man and woman arrested after terrifying attack

- BY SARAH VESTY

A MAN was left with his bones exposed after an alleged meat cleaver bloodbath.

The terrified victim, 28, screamed: “They’ve killed me.” A man and woman have been arrested.

THESE are the horrific images of a man who was allegedly attacked by thugs armed with a meat cleaver.

The 28-year-old was left with his bones exposed and blood pouring from deep slash wounds after the brutal assault.

When he saw the extent of his injuries, the terrified victim screamed: “They’ve killed me, they’ve killed me.”

His partner said: “I thought he was going to die.”

The man had gone to meet a friend on Thursday night when he was targeted in a brutal assault in the Forres Drive area of Glenrothes.

He raced back to the home he shares with his fiancee, who was left shocked after seeing her partner so badly injured. The woman, who does not want to be named, told how he screamed as he desperately tried to stem the blood flow from his hands and neck.

The 30-year-old said: “I was terrified. I thought he was going to die. I’ve never seen so much blood in my whole life.

“From the kitchen, right through the whole house was covered in blood.”

She added: “We’ve just got engaged and we’re both trying to sort our lives out. He’s my full-time carer and really looks after me properly. We came home and were getting settled in for a quiet night in when he remembered he had to go meet someone.

“But five minutes later, he came running back in the house crying, ‘They’ve killed me, they’ve killed me’.

“He got hit on the back of his neck and has got stitches all over his head.

“You could actually see inside his knuckles because he’s obviously been trying to defend himself.

“They hit him in the back of his neck and the blood was just pouring out of it. I could see inside the back of his neck and every bone. I had to be brave and try not to cry.

“The ambulance crew knew he was going to have to get surgery on his hands. He had to take his engagement ring off and give it to me. He was in an absolute state.”

Horrifying pictures show the man, who the Record have agreed not to name, with his grey T-shirt saturated in blood from his horror wounds while waiting for an ambulance.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment on Thursday night. He underwent surgery to repair damage to his hand yesterday after suffering serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police have launched a manhunt to trace the people responsible for the armed attack.

They are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the horror incident to come forward.

Police last night added that a 31-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman had been arrested in connection with the incident.

A report will be sent to the Procurator FIscal.
