Stacey Dooley gets all the gossip from Jake Wood and Scott Maslen
After Phil and Grant Mitchell, Max and Jack Branning can probably claim to be the Square’s most iconic brothers.
Like the Mitchells, they’ve both fallen for the same woman – in their case Tanya – and they’ve also been caught up in some of the biggest storylines of the past few years.
Max has been convicted for a murder he didn’t commit and seen two of his children tragically die in separate falls from the Vic’s roof, while Jack has fathered kids with three Mitchells (Ronnie, Roxy and Sam, if you’re keeping count).
So actors Jake Wood and Scott Maslen should have plenty to discuss when they meet up with Stacey Dooley in Secrets from the Square.
They’ll be looking back at their characters’ lives and many, many loves, and Stacey will also be revealing why Jake’s history with the soap goes back further than some may think as she unearths a clip from 30 years ago.
Meanwhile, Scott talks about the cloak-anddagger meeting where he discussed joining the show, and the pair relive the night of the soap’s 25th-anniversary live episode. And if all that wasn’t enough, Stacey becomes the latest lady to get a tour of Jack Branning’s flat, although unlike most visitors, she’s only there to snoop – and to audition for Homes Under the Hammer.
If anyone still needs convincing that Max and Jack can give Phil and Grant a run for their money, this week’s classic episode takes us back to Christmas Day 2007, when the Brannings sat down to watch Stacey (Slater, not Dooley) and Bradley’s wedding video – but it was the groom’s dad who was caught kissing the bride.
