ROUND-UP Flop Sanchez stays in Italy

-

ALEXIS SANCHEZ will sign a permanent deal with Inter Milan today after his £500,000-a-week Manchester United contract was torn up.

The Chile star is taking a huge wage cut to seal the move, with the Italian club paying less than half of what he was due in the final two years of his Reds deal.

The forward, 31, has been one of the biggest flops in United’s history following his January 2018 switch from Arsenal.

Sanchez, on loan at Inter, came off the bench 20 minutes from the end as Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen sealed a 2-0 Europa League last-16 win over Getafe last night.

The other clashes saw Shakhtar Donetsk and Copenhagen progress.

Shakhtar thumped German side Wolfsburg 5-1 on aggregate after a 3-0 win in the return leg in Kiev.

While Copenhagen beat Turkish champions Istanbul Basakshehir 3-0 at home to wipe out a 1-0 first-leg loss.

Shakhtar missed a hatful of first-half chances against Wolfsburg, with both sides reduced to 10 men in the second half.

The home side had defender Davit Klocholava sent off in 66 minutes for a professional foul, although the resulting penalty decision was overturned after a VAR review showed he tripped Joao Victor outside the area.

Wolfsburg’s John Anthony Brooks followed only four minutes later for a second bookable foul and Shakhtar sealed their passage with three quickfire goals.

Junior Moraes broke the deadlock in 89 minutes when he turned in a Dodo cross and netted the third in stoppage time moments after sub Manor Solomon made it 2-0.
