NEIL NOT TO BLAME FOR DYER NEWS

- BY GAVIN BERRY

ALEX DYER insisted Neil Lennon would never knowingly have allowed Boli Bolingoli to put his Kilmarnock players at risk as he accepted Celtic’s apology.

The Rugby Park boss exonerated the Celtic hierarchy of any blame but warned players to get their act together.

Dyer revealed members of the Celtic medical team have said sorry with chairman Billy Bowie also receiving a call Hoops chiefs.

The Killie boss, who takes his side to Ross County tonight, said: “Celtic are a proper football club, as we are, and if you do wrong you apologise and you move on and that’s it.

“I know the physio through Scotland and he phoned to apologise and the chairman of Celtic spoke to our chairman.

“I know Neil Lennon and I know the staff, they are good people and I know that they wouldn’t do that. They are surprised themselves, as far as I know,

“You don’t know what players are doing when they leave. We do our best to give them the right information. But once they leave there’s always going to be one or two who go astray.

“It’s not the manager’s fault, the staff or the rest of the players, it’s just individual errors that they know are wrong.

“Hopefully now everyone knows that if you keep messing up there will be consequences.

“We are role models and we need to make sure we behave in the right way. That means coming here, training hard, play out matches, then go home.

“I tell my players they can go out with their wives or girlfriends for a little meal, but then you go home. You can’t be going out in groups, or flying off somewhere, it’s not the right thing to do.”

Asked if Killie should be awarded the victory, Dyer smiled: “I would love it but it’s not right. Celtic didn’t know, it’s one of those things.”

Killie full-back Ross Millen says the new normal doesn’t impact him, because he barely ventures out anyway.

He said: “I go home, eat, sleep and get back up and play football.

“If you’re trying to make a career in football then that’s the way you should live your life.

“My first thought when I read the story was hoping the league doesn’t get paused and that the player himself doesn’t have coronavirus and it’s great news that he’s negative.”
