TAYLOR’S STORY..

-

NEW mum Taylor Hanney loved going to bingo while she was pregnant – and is now looking forward to going back as a chance to meet up with friends. Taylor, 22, lives in Paisley with partner Conan, 21, and their 12-week-old daughter Ivy. Taylor said: “I was introduced to bingo by a family friend and then I fell pregnant. It became a good way for me and my friends to catch up and we started winning decent amounts of money.

“I was quite surprised the first time I went as it was quite mixed with ages.

“We kept it as a weekly thing but sometimes I would go along myself while I was pregnant if my friends were at work.

“You get used to seeing the faces that are there. You can talk to people and also the staff talk away and have a laugh as well.

“It’s good for company and something to do and you might walk away with a win.

“You see more and more younger people coming in all the time.”

Taylor, who goes to the Mecca Bingo in Paisley, admits the thrill of thinking she might win something is part of the appeal. But it’s also a social experience.

She said: “The most I’ve won was over £1000 in one night on a night by myself.

“I think more younger people would go if they knew what it was like – especially if I was to bump into someone and say I won £1000 in a night.”

She said if she goes with others they will always split winnings equally if one of them wins.

She took a break from bingo in lockdown but is looking forward to going back when the halls reopen.

She said: “I’m keen to go back – especially after having the baby now.

“That will be my night away with my friends for a night off.”
