ALAN: I WANT GERS IN SPOT OF BROTHER

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

ALAN FORREST has kept up the family trait of ruffling up Rangers but this time around he’s hoping to bag a result.

The Livingston ace hit the net twice against the Ibrox men for Ayr United but never managed to be on the winning side like brother James who has been a regular scourge of the Light Blues with Celtic.

Forrest – who opening his Lions account with the leveller in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Motherwell – said: “I scored against Rangers a couple of times when I was with Ayr United but I was in the losing side.

“Hopefully, I can do that again this weekend – only this time I’d like to change things and we can come away with the right result.

“Every game is hard in this division but I think we’ve been handed a particularly tough start to the season but we’re the home side on Sunday and, although it will be another difficult match, we’re looking forward to it.

“Other teams don’t like coming to our place and it’s a fact we didn’t concede too many goals at home. We’ve given a couple of easy ones away up until now but I’m hoping we can iron that out of our game now.”

Forrest is relishing his run out in the top flight and reckons he’s finding his feet at Livingston following his summer switch from Somerset Park. He said: “I’m enjoying the step up. It’s been good from day one for me after that long break we had. The rest of the boys have been excellent. They’ve really helped me settle in.

“The gaffer has given me the opportunity to play and I’m learning more each day. Getting that first goal was important and now I’m looking to add a few more goals and assists.”

Forrest was delighted to hit the net at Fir Park but was left frustrated at not bagging all three points.

He said: “It was a hardfought game for us and I’m just pleased to have got off the mark here. On another day we could maybe have won but Fir Park is a hard place to come to so it was a good point for us.

“We’ve been unlucky in our first couple of games so this gives us something to build on. We were on top at 1-1 and then conceded a cheap goal but we were still in the game.

“There wasn’t much between the sides on the night and we always believed that we could get the next goal. Fortunately, that’s what happened.

“Now we’re looking to build on this result. The boys have been working hard, we have a good squad and, hopefully, we can take this performance into our next game.”
