Calm youngster used phone to raise the alarm

-

A PROUD mum has told how her three-year-old “superhero” son used a phone to raise the alarm after she collapsed at home.

Linda McGeown, 29, says little Ryan calmly called his granny to say: “Mummy not well,” after she suddenly fell ill.

The Renfrew mum of four said she is bursting with pride over how he reacted – even rubbing her leg as she came round.

She said: “I was feeling a bit unwell and I got up to go upstairs.

“The next thing I remember is Ryan beside me, rubbing my leg and my mum being there.

“It was only later that I found out he had phoned my mum. I’m so proud of him.

“He can’t really speak in full sentences yet but he said to his granny, ‘Mummy not well’. It is lucky

“My mum said when she walked in, he was saying, ‘It’s OK mummy, granny is here now.’

“I can’t believe how well he did. He’s my wee superhero.”

Grateful Linda told how the situation could have been far more serious if not for his quick-thinking actions on Monday morning.

“My baby Charlie, who is just six months old, was in the house at the time too,” she added.

“And the back door was unlocked, so Ryan could have just walked out. It is quite scary to think about what might have happened had he not been able to call.

“To be honest, I didn’t know he could use the phone like that. He hasn’t done it before. “We are all just so proud of him and what he did.”

Linda joked that Ryan’s older brother and sister, Caleb, nine, and Eve, eight, might not have known what to do in a similar situation.

She said: “I’m not sure they would have been able to do it!

“But my mum said Ryan was so calm on the phone.”

Linda is now due to be checked by doctors to get to the bottom of why she collapsed.
