A MUM who comfort ate to easease the pain of eight miscarriages hasas lost eight stone for the second timee after finally having a baby boy.

Mum-of-two Sandra Malcolmson,on, 42, went from 21st to 13st the first time round after losing four babies when she was at her heaviest.

But she began eating unhealthily again as she suffered another four miscarriages iages in 2018.

Sandra, from Irvine, said: “It was very hard to cope with the loss. I had eight miscarriages altogether, before I lost weight and then four after I lost weight.

“I was going for early scans ans and they were telling me everything ything g was OK but then by the next scan an they would tell me there was no o heartbeat. It was devastating and d the only thing I could do to cope was s comfort eat.”

Doctors originally told Sandra shehe would struggle to have a baby while shee was so overweight. Desperate to give her 14-yearold daughter Shanice a sister, she joined her local Slimming World group.

But Sandra continued to have miscarriages and her weight crept back up as she ate to deal with her loss.

In late 2018, Sandra once again discovered she was pregnant. Fearing the worst, she tried not to get her hopes up.

Sandra said: “I just resigned myself to the fact that I couldn’t carry a baby so I prepared myself for another loss.

“But then we kept going to scans and they were saying, ‘Baby is fine’, but I always felt like I was waiting for that horrible news. I felt anxious and on edge all the time and whenever I couldn’t feel him move, I would seek comfort in food.

“I was stashing junk food wrappers in different bins so no one knew what I was eating. Salad and vegetables made me almost instantly sick throughout my pregnancy so even when I tried to eat healthily, I couldn’t keep it down, so I just ate junk.”

Sandra was overjoyed when little Scott was born in April 2019 - but by that time, she had edged back up to over 20st.

She decided to get back to Slimming World plan and shift the weight.

Almost exactly a year later, Sandra reached her goal of 12st.

She said: “It was a great feeling to get it all off for a second time. I had reached my goal but I am going to keep going and maybe try for another stone or so because I just don’t want to pile it all back on again.”

Sandra says she hopes others will be inspired by her story.

She said: “If there are women out there who have been told they can’t conceive because of their weight, maybe my story will give them hope.”
