RODGERS: WE MUST BE ON IT EVERY GAME

- BY JAMES NURSEY

BRENDAN RODGERS has challenged Leicester to improve their consistency after they failed to back up their Manchester City heroics.

Fresh from thrashing City 5-2 away last weekend, West Ham brought the Foxes back down to earth with a bump.

Michail Antonio headed the Hammers into a 14th- minute lead and Pablo Fornals made it 2-0 20 minutes later.

And Jarrod Bowen made sure of the win seven minutes from the end after a great pass from Fornals.

Rodgers said: “It was a disappointing day. We were nowhere near our best.

“We have made a really good start with nine points from 12. We had a chance to make it a great start but we were below our level.

“It was another lesson that if you don’t perform to your level you fall short.

“There are definitely areas we need to improve from a defensive perspective.

“We lacked that patience and precision in our game.

“The team have show great potential again but we need to improve on that consistency. It wasn’t complacency from our perspective – but we have to be on our game every game.

“There is a challenge to increase the consistency.”

Rodgers was without James Maddison who felt tightness in his calf after the City clash.

Dennis Praet missed out with a knee injury and Daniel Amartey now needs a hamstring scan after limping off.

Leicester new boy Wesley Fofana was on the bench after his £30million move from St Etienne.

But Rodgers is not expecting many more new faces on deadline day.

He added: “We’d have liked to have brought in a couple more players but I’m still really happy with what we’ve got. I saw Wesley in training for the first time on Friday and I’m excited about him.”
