Ethan: We’ll miss Kyle – but we’re due a break

- BY SCOTT BURNS

ETHAN ERHAHON admits Kyle Magennis will be a big loss but is confident struggling St Mirren still have enough within their squad to go on and shine.

Saints lost their captain at the weekend after their board accepted a six-figure offer from Hibs, just hours before the Buddies lost a heartbreaking stoppagetime winner to Aberdeen.

Erhahon said: “Kyle’s a great player. He and I get on quite well and used to have a bit of banter in the dressing room. I’ll miss him.

“We are short and the injuries are not going our way just now but hopefully things will turn.”

Erhahon, a fellow Buddies graduate, added to his growing reputation with a 25-yard wonder strike against the Dons.

He said: “I took a weighted-pass and I just saw it coming and thought I might as well strike it.

“The manager is always on at me to shoot more and I never do it so it was good to get the goal. It was only my second for Saints and my second league goal.”

Erhahon, 19, reckons they were cruelly robbed. He said: “It was good to get the goal but I’m gutted with the result. We did well and the boys stuck together.

“I’ll need to see the goal back but I believe it took a couple of deflections. I thought we were unlucky because we were all behind the ball but things aren’t going our way just now.

“We were the better team. The positive was the performance, the boys worked hard. Hopefully the deflection will go our way the next time.”

St Mirren are on the back of six straight defeats, with Partick Thistle next in the Betfred Cup on Wednesday.

But Erhahon added: “There haven’t been any big defeats. Things can flip easily.

“If we put on good performances like we did at Aberdeen then we will deserve the three points.”
