We were the losers in a game of chance

-

RICHARD BRITTAIN admitted Ross County blew their golden chance to leave Ibrox with a point.

Stopper Coll Donaldson sent a free header over the crossbar late on and Staggies No.2 Brittain knew it was a golden opportunity squandered by his side.

He said: “You come to these places and play at this level and only get one chance. You have to take it.

“That’s what I said to the players after the game. Unfortunately for us we didn’t manage to take it.

“We’re disappointed to lose but I’m delighted with how we did in possession.

“We restricted Rangers and I felt our shape was good and the game plan we worked on was good. On another day we could have got something.”

County have won just one of the last eight games and face Montrose in the Betfred Cup on Wednesday.

Brittain said: “We said to the players there’s no point performing like that then not turning up on Wednesday night and not playing at the same level.

“If you can put in consistent performances week in, week out, you’ll have a successful season.

“Our shape out of possession was good and it was something we worked on during the week.

“We have to take the positives from the game and keep rolling forward. We’ve got a game on Wednesday night, the first game in the cup, and we’ve got to carry that on.”

Striker Ross Stewart again impressed and ahead of the transfer window closing tonight, Brittain said: “You can’t stop rumours, you can’t stop teams being interested. But when that window closes, we’ll all be grateful for it.”
