Lennon pays tribute to Leigh as he warns Edouard to focus

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

NEIL LENNON has warned odsonne Edouard to get his mind back on the job at Celtic once the transfer window closes.

The Celtic boss is frustrated by the Frenchman’s lack of focus amid speculation linking him to clubs in England and on the continent.

Out-of-sorts Edouard was hooked, left, after a low-key hour in Perth but

came on and scored today. Odsonne scored in midweek. Albian was on fire before he got injured so we’ve got four great strikers looking to play a part in every single game.

“Competition for places is really good and we want to keep that going.

“You saw today what I can do and I have done it throughout my career.

“If the chips are down I will stand up and be counted and score goals.

“I have a good period now to get my fitness back up and we’ve got a good game to come back to.” Griffiths insists the Saints win was a team effort.

Celtic’s strength in depth eventually told after an afternoon of toil.

Not many sides can chuck on the quality of Griffiths, along with Scott Brown, Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and Klimala.

Griffiths said: “It is not about me, it is about the team getting three points and carrying that momentum on into the international break.

“It wasn’t just me who made an impact, it was Patryk, Tom, Broonie and Ryan, they all made a contribution. We knew St

Johnstone were going to make it hard and try to hit us on the counter-attack.

“It was about us trying to break that down and unfortunately it took until the 90th minute to get the ball into the net. That’s what you want. You want the team to keep going for 90 minutes.

“You can’t come off that at any point, you never know when points will be dropped.

“Thankfully for us, it doesn’t matter about the starting 11 or the bench, we’ve got a whole squad who can contribute.”

The victory kept up the topof-the-table battle with rivals Rangers, with the Old Firm showdown to come after the international break.

Griffiths reckons the pressure is all on Gers these days.

He said: “That’s the thing about a title race, you need to keep going right to the end.

“They would be thinking we were going to drop points and the boys came off the bench and produced two goals.

“It’s all on them now. Let’s see what they do. We just carry on doing what we do and try to pick up three points and make sure we are gathering momentum.”
