Nicola shines amid Brexit

NICOLA Sturgeon’s handling of the pandemic is driving support for independence, a top pollster said yesterday.

Professor Sir John Curtice said surveys found most Scots praised her response and rated it above that of the UK Government.

However, he also found that the ongoing row over Brexit trade talks was failing to register with voters. The UK Government insists the legislation is about protecting a “single market”, while SNP ministers claim the bill is simply a “power grab” that will see Westminster trample over Holyrood.”

Prof Curtice said: “The public in many cases are struggling to follow the argument.”
