Mask row brothers abused cops

TWO brothers who refused to wear face masks in a pub aimed vile abuse at police called by frightened staff.

Barry Rutherford, 29, and Lee Rutherford, 28, threatened workers at The Eagle Inn in Dunbar and the Golf Tavern in Haddington, in East Lothian, before being arrested on September 17.

The older sibling had to be taken to hospital due to his drunkenness.

Barry Rutherford, of Port Seton, aimed racist and homophobic abuse at PCs.

Lee, of Musselburgh, also targeted an officer with a homophobic remark.

They admitted various charges at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday. Sentence was deferred.
