Scots have edge thanks to Old Firm

Daily Record - - SCOTLAND -

SERBIAN football legend Milovan Doric has warned his compatriots not to underestimate Scotland as he points to the European pedigree of Glasgow’s big two.

Scotland face the Serbs next month in a Euro 2020 play-off final in Belgrade and the hosts will be warm favourites to go through.

But Doric insists the Scots shouldn’t be taken lightly given Celtic and Rangers’ presence in continental competition.

He said: “Scotland is much more of a football country than our semi-final opponents Norway. How many clubs in Norway have you heard of achieving anything in Europe?

“But Scotland have Celtic and Rangers in Europe every year and they win some important matches in the Champions League and Europa League.

“Scottish football has a proud history and we can’t go into this game thinking it is already won.”
