8 firefighters test positive for virus
EIGHT firefighters have tested positive for Covid-19 at a city fire station.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service bosses tonight confirmed the emergency service workers had contracted the virus and were now self isolating. The station, at Govan in Glasgow, has been deep cleaned and employees are expected to return to the job this week.
Roddie Keith, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s local senior officer for Glasgow, reassured the public that their safety is the service’s main priority and they are continuing to respond to emergencies.
He said: “I can confirm eight firefighters at Govan Fire Station, Glasgow, recently tested positive for Covid-19 and selfisolated in line with guidance from the Scottish Government. They are expected to return to work later this week.”
