Church takes blame for death
THE Catholic Church yesterday admitted it was to blame for the death of a 94-year-old man who plunged to his death from a care home window.
Peter Connor fell nearly 30 feet onto concrete after climbing out of a secondfloor window a fortnight after moving into the church-run home.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Dunkeld Trust admitted criminal responsibility for Alzheimer’s sufferer
Peter’s death at Wellburn Care Home in Dundee in May 2017.
Dundee Sheriff Court was told the rundown home had failed to put security on windows to prevent them being fully opened by vulnerable residents.
Sheriff Alistair Carmichael deferred sentence to consider the level of fine to impose.
Peter’s family are suing the church in the civil court.
