Now all that glitters is not sold at Xmas
GLITTER is being stripped from Christmas cards and plastic purged from packaging as stores try to deliver a more eco-friendly festive season.
Crackers, wrapping paper, present bags, flowers, plants and wreaths are now glitter-free from Morrisons supermarket.
And Boots has taken 2020 tons of plastic from its Christmas gifts by ditching single-use plastic packaging.
Morrisons’ director Christine Bryce said: “We’ve taken glitter and plastic out of our festive range.”
Glitter is made from tiny particles of plastic and is an ecological hazard if it becomes dispersed on land, rivers and oceans, where it takes hundreds of years to degrade.
