LUBO: NEW BHOYS CAN BECOME HEROES

- BY ALISON MCCONNELL

LUBOMIR MORAVCIK has told Celtic’s new boys that Saturday’s big game is the ideal chance to make a name for themselves.

Neil Lennon’s side host Rangers in the opening derby of the season but it is an Old Firm match like no other.

Former Hoops playmaker Moravcik admitted he would have hated to have played against Rangers without an audience but that there is still a chance to become a hero with a big display in the fixture.

Celtic could start Saturday’s Parkhead showdown with four debutants in the fixture – Vasilis Barkas, Shane Duffy, Diego Laxalt and Albian Ajeti.

And Lubo – who scored twice in a 5-1 win on his Old Firm debut in November 98 – has told them just how much the games against Rangers count.

Moravcik said: “It will be so weird for the players and if they score it won’t feel like a big deal, the way it would if you are celebrating in front of 60,000 people.

“They won’t realise just how big a thing it is at the time because the reaction in the stadium just isn’t there.

“But all those fans are sitting on their couch watching it on TV and they do not forget. It is a game that can make you a hero.

“I wish all the players going into this fixture for the first time all the best of luck. I will be cheering for them.”
