Stop traffickers

Daily Record - - CORONAVIRUS CRISIS -

HUMAN trafficking is an international scourge and only a global approach will tackle it.

While there are domestic victims of trafficking, the majority are from abroad and in Scotland the highest number are Vietnamese.

So Police Scotland’s recruitment of Vietnamese officers is a progressive step towards rooting out modern slavery in our country.

As Assistant Chief Constable Judi Heaton has highlighted, trafficking victims are trapped in a “living hell”, imprisoned and abused, with those in sexual slavery raped multiple times a day.

As a newspaper we are determined to raise awareness of this vile crime because the public have a vital role in reporting potential trafficking in businesses, from brothels to car washes.

Only with a united front and cross-border policing with countries such as Vietnam can we win the war on trafficking.
