NICOLA Sturgeon’s plea to Sky Sports to show Saturday’s Celtic v Rangers game for free to encourage fans not too travel to watch the match and help stop the spread of coronavirus divided opinion yesterday.

On the Record’s Facebook page, Nicola O’Brien said: “Won’t make a bit of difference. Everyone will still go out and mix with others to watch it. She’s defo wasting her time with this one.”

Paul Mackay added: “I’m not a fan of Sky but it is a business at the end of the day so why should they give it away for free?

“Everton v Liverpool on at the same time so should it be free too given what’s happening down there?

“That would go down really well with the people who actually bother to pay the subscriptions.

“I’m sure those who are desperate enough to watch it will find a way with the wonders of modern technology.”

Gus Stewart wrote: “This is all because some fans can’t be trusted. Surely if you don’t have Sky, listen on the radio. It’s not forever.”
