Brad: We had every right to be Raith ravers

BRAD SPENCER says neither snipers nor empty stands could spoil Raith’s title party.

Rovers are back in the second tier after three years away, having been crowned League One champs on a points-per-game basis.

Spencer and Co lifted the trophy at an empty Stark’s Park.

The midfielder, set to face Arbroath in today’s opener, said: “It is a big club that deserves to be at

this level if not higher. The fans know what it means for the club to be up at this level.

“We need to go out and prove it now that we belong here.

“You get a lot of stick about how the leagues finished but at the end of the day we deserved it.

“We were top for I think it was 21 out of 28 weeks, we obviously deserved to be at the top.

“That is what we said when we were going out, ‘Listen lads, we deserve to be lifting this today.’ We took it upon ourselves to make the best atmosphere we could without the fans. It was a good day.”

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell said: “The Betfred Cup was a good warm-up, however the really serious stuff is starting now.”
