This foufourth and final novel in the W Wizards Of Once series iis another page-tturner through Cowell’s Cowel fantastical Bronze Bronz Age world. We rejoin Wish the warrior, warri and Xar the wizard, wiza plus their entourage ento of sprites, fairies fairi and bodyguards as ththey set out to banish ban the Witches once onc and for all. This Th is everything you’d yo expect from the th Children’s Laureate: La engaging, imperfect im characters who have much to learn, a strong narrator who guides readers through the story, and sprinklings of cultural references and stretching words ords to keep readers stimulated.
The novel slows towards the end as if Cowell can’t quite bear to close the final chapter. This is an excellent choice for young readers but it is very much part of a series.
Although Cowell does try to introduce characters and the e overall plot, the pace and in-story references will leave e new readers behind. But withh a series this good, starting at the he first book is no bad thing.
