Rashford’s right

-

MARCUS Rashford stunned Boris Johnson with a campaign to give kids free school meals in summer.

The Tory Prime Minister thought he could brush off the England striker.

But there was an inevitable U-turn and Rashford claimed victory on behalf of some of the country’s poorest children.

Now the PM seems to have forgotten the humiliation and is doing it all over again for Christmas.

The focus on Downing Street and less fortunate youngsters in England doesn’t mean Scotland can ignore the problem.

That’s why Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard is picking up the campaign in an attempt to coax Nicola Sturgeon into doing the right thing.

We asked if the SNP administration would do it, they said they’re “looking” at the campaign.

But there should be no need for a pause on this.

We know children need help, we know the Covid crisis is becoming an economic crisis. And as he’s already proved, Rashford doesn’t intend to miss the target a second time.
