Morrison: I’ll run against city mayor
CONTROVERSIAL R’n’B singer Mark Morrison wants to stand as mayor in his home city of Leicester.
The R’n’B star - who topped the charts with Return Of The Mack in 1996 – is frustrated after the local council failed to back his plan to open a recording studio for young people to steer them away from a life of crime.
Now the singer plans to oust city mayor Sir Peter Soulsby by standing for election himself after a Zoom call to discuss the project was scrapped.
Morrison, 48 – who was jailed for a year after paying a l ooka l i ke to do community service for him fol lowing an aff ray conviction – said: “If I run against him, I win, easy.”
“This man needs to come out of office.”
