I’ve never been a fan of Sundays

- Scott Henshall

FASHION designer Scott Henshall, 45, fills us in on his typical lockdown weekend, which consists of walks on the beach and relaxing at home with a game of Scrabble.

BEFORE lockdown, our Friday nights usually started at midday to celebrate the week being over and we’d head down to the pub. Then, we’d have more drinks at Berners Tavern.

Now I’m up bright and breezy and start the day with a strong coffee on a Saturday morning, which is followed by a lazy lunch with my friends.

Later on I’d have a proper pamper session at Neville Hair and Beauty in London.

We would then head to Knightsbridge to do a bit of window shopping at Harrods and Liberty before getting ready for dinner at Nobu on Park Lane.

On Sundays, the morning is often a late one before going on a long walk around one of London’s parks before lunch. I’ve become much more domesticated now and I kind of enjoy it.

I’m based up north at the moment. What I love to do more than anything is go for long walks on the beach, which is the reason why I left London to begin with.

When lockdown was about to happen, I wanted to be in the open air and the countryside. I really feel for my friends who are living in the city, as most of them don’t have gardens. I’ve never been a fan of Sundays. However, they are much better in the winter with Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity, so I’d have something simple and yummy to eat on a tray in front of the TV.

If I’m feeling adventurous when I’m in Yorkshire, we may head to Whitby, one of my favourite places, to have fish and chips at The Magpie Cafe.

James Martin says they’re the best, so if it’s good enough for him, I’ll take his word as a fellow northerner.

Everything feels better when I’m back up north in my favourite places.
