REST OF FRIENDS
Euan and Ashy won’t be pals for 90 minutes
FRIENDSHIPS will be put on hold for 90 minutes when Euan Murray crosses swords with Lee Ashcroft today.
The pair were team-mates at Dunfermline last term and struck up a fine partnership at the heart of the Pars defence before Murray’s season was interrupted by a persistent back injury.
Ashcroft left to join Dundee in the close season and Murray said: “I still keep in touch with Ashy. He is a great boy and somebody I had a great relationship with.
“He’s a great person to have around the club, as well as doing the business on the pitch.
“But when it comes to the game on Saturday there is no time for friendships. I’m sure Ashy would be the first person to tell you the same!
“He has moved to Dundee now and he will be looking to put one over us. We expect it to be a physical, competitive game – that’s what you get when you go to Dens.
“On Tuesday
DUNDEE v DUNFERMLINE
against St Johnstone we showed we’re a match for anybody when it comes to physicality.” Declan McDaid is desperate to ditch his bench role – but the winger is even more determined that Dundee do well. He last started a game five weeks ago. But having won and drawn their last two games, McDaid understands he will have to remain patient and ready to make an impact if called upon. He said: “I’m a team player so I’m happy we are doing well but you want to play from the start. “It’s good to come on and make an impact but you y want to be involved mo more. “The team is doing wellw so I can’t complain toot much about it – all you ccan do is try to take the chanchance when it comes along. WeWe’re coming into a busy timtime so the chancechan might comcome along.”
