I’M FEELING FIT AND FAB, BUT HE’S MISERABLE

-

Dear Coleen

JUST before the first lockdown in March I took my four-year-old son to the cinema. As I was trying to get into our row to sit down, someone in the seats behind said, “Get out of the way, you fat cow!”

I was so upset, I couldn’t sit through the film and went home.

However, weirdly, it had a motivating effect on me. During the lockdown I started to cook healthy food instead of eating ready meals and went out every day with my son for walks and cycling, and did home workouts.

I ended up losing three stone and I’m fitter than I’ve been in 10 years.

I feel attractive and sexy again, and I’m loving it. But, here’s the thing, my husband has been quite miserable about it and I’ve barely got a compliment or even an acknowledgement that I’ve achieved something positive.

What’s going on?

Coleen says

YOU’LL have to ask him, but maybe it’s insecurity – you’re looking great and feeling good about yourself and he might think you’ll dump him for an upgrade!

Maybe he’s a bit jealous that you’ve done something so positive if he’s spent most of lockdown in his sweatpants on the sofa.

The only way to work it out is to have a conversation.

Be direct and tell him you’re annoyed that he’s barely acknowledged what you’ve done and ask him why that is. Yes, he should be happy for you and thrilled that you’re his wife.

But ultimately, you did this for yourself and that’s what matters most. Enjoy the feeling and hopefully your hubby will get behind you once he realises what he’s got to lose!
