Look Who’s back for one big blast

-

DOCTOR WHO BBC1, 6.45pm NEW year, new Doctor Who – but an old enemy. Yes, the Daleks are back!

It’s safe to assume that, given all her time-travelling capabilities, the Doctor won’t be in any hurry to revisit 2020.

Mind you, unless she can escape from the high-security alien prison she was locked in by the Judoon at the end of the last series, she won’t be travelling anywhere.

The Thirteenth Doctor’s captivity means that “the fam” – aka her friends and travelling companions Graham, Yaz and Ryan – will be working without her help. Something that’s going to become increasingly difficult, as they realise they’re facing the Time Lord’s deadliest and oldest adversary: the Daleks.

When things start, the trio are back on earth and trying to carry on life without the Doctor. But they soon discover a dark and disturbing plan is forming, involving those familiar foes.

With the Doctor imprisoned and struggling, they need another friendly otherwordly type to offer some assistance, so praise be for Torchwood hero Captain Jack Harkness ( John Barrowman).

And there’s another familiar face in Jack Robertson (played by Sex and the City’s Mr Big, Chris Noth), although he was somewhat dodgy and disgraced when we last saw him.

And acting legend Dame Harriet Walter also appears, as does Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

We do know that this festive special will be the last we see of the fam of four, as both Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Ryan (Tosin Cole) are leaving.

We have no idea how, but prepare for emotional goodbyes…
