Naismith: Point is boss has top style

-

JASON NAISMITH believes John Hughes’ style will suit him – and relegationthreatened Ross County.

The former Peterborough defender, back for a second spell at County after last season’s Hibs loan deal, marked his first competitive match with a strong performance for the Staggies at right-back.

Encouraged by early signs under Hughes, Naismith is now looking forward to the new gaffer’s first full week of work on the training ground.

He said: “It was good to be back out there. That was my first full league game in over a year – my last one for Hibs was before the winter break last year.

“I thought I did all right in the first half, although I’m still dusting some cobwebs off and I’m sure that will come with games.

“The way the game went, the second half certainly never suited the way the manager wants to play.

“But we showed a different side to us in the second half and a few of the boys were saying we might have lost that game a few weeks ago. It might turn out to be a good point.

“The personnel has changed since I was last here but they’ll get used to me and I’ll get used to them and the way they like to play.

“That comes from the manager as well. He has touched on the fact he has not had much time to work on it with us because of the amount of games.

“There’s a Saturday to Saturday schedule now coming up, so it will be good to get on the training pitch.

“It does help a lot when a new manager comes in and puts his own ideas in.

“His passing style of play will definitely suit me and the rest of the lads. We just need to keep working away.

“That’s the way he wants to play and that’s the way 80 per cent of players want to play. It’s enjoyable to play in and it will be enjoyable to watch as well.”
