SPFL guys so guilty of robbery with virus

-

KILMARNOCK defender Clevid Dikamona insists the SPFL decision makers have left him bewildered.

The Congo international breathed a sigh of relief on Friday when an SFA appeal panel overturned the league’s order for Killie to forfeit a match against Motherwell postponed because of a Covid outbreak at Rugby Park.

SPFL chiefs ruled Killie breached Covid protocols but Dikamona is adamant nobody did anything wrong.

He said: “Honestly I think it was the right decision. We are all going through a tough moment.

“I don’t want to speak of some other people who have been outside, in the pub and get the virus.

“We were at home trying to do our job. Some people get the virus and that’s life.

“I’ve been in a lot of countries, I’ve played for a lot of teams and I can’t understand some of the decisions from the SPFL.

“But that’s it, that’s football. We get the decision and we have the chance to fight for the three points and that’s the best decision.

“That’s what’s fair. To get the points on the pitch, not in front of people who don’t even play football. The fair thing is to fight for these three points on the pitch.”

Killie will get the chance to win the points against Well on a rearranged date but Alex Dyer’s side missed out on three at Easter Road when they lost out in a scrappy encounter.

Dikamona said: “Even when we were 1-0 down we had opportunities but the ball hit the post and went in the wrong direction.

“Sometimes you have to force this luck. Even at halftime the gaffer asked us to stay focused.

“That’s why we lost – just concentration and we weren’t lucky.”
