FOR the first time this season Rangers and Celtic shipped points on the same weekend.

But while Gers’ draw with Motherwell may have caused a ripple of frustration for the runaway leaders, the Hoops’ stalemate with Livingston produced another tidal wave of fury with the 10-in-a-row dream all but sunk.

Parkhead legend Kenny Dalglish launched a defence of Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond on Sunday.

But Bill Lockerbie, Northampton, said: “For Dalglish to say the board and management are feeling the pain like the fans is patronising.

“What Kenny fails to appreciate is that Desmond and Co had the destiny of the 10 in their hands. Unlike the fans they had the power to influence this historic achievement but fiddled while Paradise burned.

“The fans have done their part by putting their hands in their pockets. Relatively speaking, much more than Desmond and Co have done.”

It wasn’t just Desmond in the firing line and Colin McArdle, Lanarkshire, said: “Although self-isolating, Neil Lennon still picked the teams who played Hibs and Livi. The young reserve players he chose failed miserably to impress while Nir Biton and Shane Duffy made Efe Ambrose look world class.

“When the defence were leaking goals galore at home and in Europe, Lennon and John Kennedy decided it was time to rectify the problem and signed Duffy. The only way they can improve the team’s defending is for the both of them to resign now.”

Gordon Hendry, Ochiltree, added: “Celtic must be dreading their trip to Livingston on Wednesday. Ten years from now this season will not be remembered for a quadruple Treble, instead it will be remembered for a trip to Dubai and the year Celtic imploded.”

Charles Buchanan emailed: “Celtic have only themselves to blame. Four points dropped in their last two games they should have won. Three points against Rangers again should have been won – with three games in hand that are winnable. They could be in reality just five behind but for their own stupidity.”

Along similar lines, Colin Murdoch, Milngavie, said: “The worst thing about Celtic’s imploding is that Rangers are no world beaters. They didn’t deserve to beat Hibs, were outplayed most of the game by Celtic, struggled to beat 10-man Aberdeen and now a draw with bottom-of-the-league Motherwell.

“Comparisons with Celtic’s Invincibles are a joke. Celtic are gifting Rangers the title this season.”

Eddie Howe is being tipped to replace Lennon but Rab Picken, London, said: “Howe would come in when Rangers are back and in a healthy position. He will have to rebuild. Do they have the money though as they have to sell before they replace? We welcome the chase, 55 is coming home.”

Speaking of Rangers, Joe Graham, Garrowhill, said: “Regular caller Gordon Ashley commented that Rangers would tire in the new year. It’s now 24 unbeaten in the league and 21 points clear so Steven Gerrard’s juggernaut is steering its way to title 55.”

Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: “It was disappointing to draw with Motherwell but we have come a long way and the only worry is complacency after getting no challenge from Celtic. We’ve played the three clubs below us in the last couple of weeks and won but hey it’s on to the next game against Ross County.”

And John Davidson, Armadale, added: “The undefeated league run carries on. I’m still sure the Easter Bunny will be delivering the title to Ibrox.”
