The 23-year-old had eight staples put in a knife wound on his head and about a dozen stitches were needed to close gashes on his legs.

The killer, serving a minimum of 18 years behind bars for his role in the 2019 murder of Glasgow man James “Scudger” Watt, is understood to have been moved to another jail a short time later.

A source told how Noonan had angered a fellow con by striking up a friendship with a fellow prisoner who is serving a sentence for attempted murder.

They said: “Lee Noonan from Govan was slashed at HMP Shotts. He suffered horrific injuries to his face, shoulder and leg.

“He was attacked and then moved to HMP Kilmarnock about the start of December. A prisoner put £10,000 on his head and ordered a hit because of his association with another convict.” No one has yet been arrested or charged in connection with the Shotts jail attack. Noonan was caged in January 2019 after being found guilty of murdering his 40-year-old victim along with two other men.

The battered body of James Watt was discovered in his Copland Quadrant home, Ibrox, the previous February.
