-

■ Two in five Brits say they are worried about their financial future, with one in five saying this is keeping them up at night.

Brexit is the top money concern for 2021, with one-in-four people saying the impact of the UK leaving the EU is their biggest worry. Meanwhile, the pandemic and lockdown rules continue to hit finances hard with just over one in five fearing they will not have enough money to cover an unexpected expense.

■ Millions of home movers and improvers risk invalidating their home insurance due to Covid cost-cutting.

New research from Gas Safe Register reveals 51 per cent of people admit to never reading their home insurance policy in full and almost 90 per cent don’t realise home renovations can impact their home insurance cover.

The pandemic has made people thriftier, prompting 45 per cent to try DIY, rather than relying on qualified, legally registered professionals.

However, this could be a false economy as it can invalidate policy cover and cost you thousands.
