PREMIER LEAGUE TO PROBE SNODDY ‘AGREEMENT’

-

SAM ALLARDYCE has sparked a Premier League investigation after letting slip that Robert Snodgrass missed last night’s game following a gentleman’s agreement between West Ham and West Brom.

The Baggies boss revealed Snodgrass’ no-show was due to both clubs striking a deal that the Scot wouldn’t face his old club. But the Premier League have launched a probe over whether both clubs had breached regulations.

West Ham had initially refused to sanction his move until today – 24 hours after the two sides had met – before agreeing to sell Snodgrass last week. Allardyce had wanted the winger to play against Wolves, prior to last night’s clash, and that led to the deal being struck.

Premier League rules though prevent that type of agreement over permanent transfers.

Speaking before his side’s loss, Allardyce said: “That was an agreement between the clubs that this game he would not be allowed to play. We could only get the deal done with that agreement.”

Pressed on Snodgrass’ absence post-match, Allardyce said: “I can’t answer that. I’ll have to wait and see.

“Before I answer anything that might cause me or West Ham any trouble then I’ll wait and see what the Premier League say. But I’ve got bigger things to worry about.”

West Ham boss David Moyes said: “I’m not sure it’s any of my business. I don’t think it’s anyone else’s. The Premier League have to do what they have to do.”

On the pitch Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio won it for the Hammers.
