QUOTE OF THE DAY

-

‘It’s a pity players can’t be sacked for underachieving, being gutless and unprofessional. You can’t fault Neil Lennon for not caring’ been a great servant to the club. Poor boardroom decisions and a squad bereft of guts and effort who are working their tickets have done it for him.”

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: “It hasn’t been good this season for Lennon but he was fantastic servant to the club. He stepped in when Brendan Rodgers left without hesitation and that shows how much he loved the club.”

Bill Waugh, Glasgow, emailed: “It’s a great pity players can’t be sacked for underachieving, underperforming, being totally gutless and unprofessional. Apart from Scott Brown and Callum McGregor, and allowing for a couple of new youngsters, there are seven or eight individuals who should be ashamed. You can’t fault Neil for not caring.”

Michael Emonds, Northampton, said: “I’m delighted John Kennedy has been given the interim manager’s job at Celtic. He’s got more coaching experience at all levels than Lennon had when he was given the job first time round. He should have got the job when Rodgers did the midnight flit two years ago.”

But David Bryce, Troon, said: “Lennon should have resigned after the Ferencvaros debacle, he was just not up to it. He has destroyed our season. He is not the only one who should be leaving, Kennedy and Gavin Strachan should be emptying their desks too.”

Colin McArdle, Lanarkshire, said: “Kennedy has assisted Ronny Deila out the door and now Lennon. If a new manager is appointed he will have to come with his own chosen assistant and defence coaches. If not then nothing will have changed.”

Richard Wharton, Carlisle, said: “Putting Kennedy in charge is the wrong move. He was a defender and that is where the problems lie.”

Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: “Lennon had to go but so too does Kennedy. Both are clueless.”
