OFIR WON’T BE INDEFINITE ONE

- BY ALAN MARSHALL

JACK ROSS admits Hibs could reach a “tipping point” of having to pull Ofir Marciano’s contract offer as the keeper stalls on signing fresh terms.

The Israeli ace, linked with Hapoel Be’er Sheva in his homeland, has been in lengthy talks with the Easter Road outfit.

His contract is up this summer following five successful years in Leith.

Boss Ross said: “In terms of Ofir, players have their own individual situations to consider.

“Discussions are ongoing but I don’t know how close they are to a resolution. They know there will be a tipping point whereby we have to explore other options and that means the offer may not be there for them any more.

“They understand the risks of not committing.

“But if you keep an open dialogue, then when you do reach a point where you have to start looking at alternatives the player will understand if one of those comes to fruition. They can’t have any complaints.”

Speaking this month about his future, Hibs’ No.1 said: “It’s a cliche but at the moment I am only focusing on my football.”

UEFA’S chief medical advisor has offered the Tartan Army hope of going to Wembley.

Scotland are due to face England on June 18 in a Euro finals spread across 12 cities.

Dr Daniel Koch reckons more fans could be at the finals than imagined and said: “I hope at least some travelling will be possible because it’s not travelling that makes the real difference.

“A decision must be made at the beginning of April but then there is flexibility to say we can scale up because the situation improved much more than expected.”
