LOCKDOWN DAD SHEDS 6 STONE ON RUN

AN oVErWEiGHT dad used lockdown to run more than 800 miles and shed 6st.

christophe­r Graham weighed more than 20st until last march but is now 14st and has dropped from size XXL to a medium and from a 44in to a 34in waist.

The dad of one has clocked up 883 miles and plans to run a further 200 before may to raise cash for NHS workers.

christophe­r, 38, from Stirling, said: “in January last year, i weighed in at 20st 6lbs, grossly overweight and feeling horrible about myself. Lockdown happened and like most of us, i found myself bored with nothing to do except raid the fridge. i’d done some running in the past so i decided to start pounding the streets to try shift the pounds.

“initially i just ran between one and two miles a day as that’s all my body would allow but the more i ran, the further and faster i could go.

“i decided then to run a marathon in seven days, running just under four miles a day. i completed that with a day to spare and felt really good for doing so.

“i then heard of an online challenge which was virtually running the distance between Lands End to John o’Groats, which totals 1083 miles. it was perfect to get me out the house and away from the fridge.”

As a thank you to health workers, he is raising £1083, £1 for every mile, for NHS forth Valley.

christophe­r, who works at carlton Bingo in Stirling, said: “i was feeling really good, mentally and physically and delighted that money was being raised for the people who have done so much for the nation over the last year.

for the last 26 miles of the challenge, i’m going to run it as a marathon and do it all in one day.”
